The University of Tulsa Alum and former TU football player Andrew Bates, President and Owner of Body Fulfillment, Inc. (The Body Fulfillment Training Company) recently captured international attention. Bates and Body Fulfillment--proud designated partners of the Mayors' Fitness Challenge--were invited to the 2^nd International Conference on Physical Education, Coaching and Health Fitness in Greece. The conference is hosted by the Athens Institute for Education and Research, and will feature a presentation about a collaborative project entitled "Investing in the Future: Practical Strategies to Promote Wellness in At-Risk Populations."

This opportunity arose at a time when Tulsa was just beginning to recognize the need for an improvement in the fitness, health and wellness area. With recent occurrences of Tulsa being rated one of the unhealthiest cities in the nation as well as a new government mandate to focus on health and wellness in the public school systems, Bates felt that the conference would be an excellent chance to boost the health promotions developing throughout Oklahoma. Bates also acknowledged that attending the conference would be an opening to draw international attention to what Tulsa's doing to assist the community in living healthier lives. 

While only a select few are invited to present their research and hard work to an audience from around the world, Bates and the Oral Roberts School of Nursing (AVSON) will present the research they have been working on since last spring. Bates wrote and will present the base curriculum for the conference, a program titled "Powering Generations to Move." 

Bates leaves for Athens on June 28^th to represent the City of Tulsa and the State of Oklahoma on an international level regarding fitness, health, and wellness in the community.
